Every time you look, there's a new platform title out for some console or another. Fortunately, most of the recent releases are actually quality titles. Not only that, they're quality titles featuring mammals in some form or another. Ratchet and Clank follows this trend, naturally. Ratchet covers the mammalian base fairly well. Clank, the cool one, is little more than a hunk of metal. Somehow, this unusual pair makes for quite a nice game.

As you progress through the story, Ratchet will assemble an incredible arsenal of weapons in every shape and form. You see, jumping on critters just doesn't work in this genre anymore. You've got to blow them to smithereens, or at least hit them really, really hard with something heavy.

In case you've just been dying to know what this game is all about, you've come to the right place. The evil chairman Drek is planning to take chunks of planets to build a super-planet for his people. It's up to Ratchet and Clank to stop him. IGN will help you do just that. With a huge, detailed walkthrough, weapons specs, gadget info and all of the secrets that are fit to print, this is your one stop Ratchet shop on the web.

The latest guides for the hottest games are available for IGN Insider subscribers. If you're not an Insider, you'll still want to check out IGN Guides, as we feature plenty of free and sponsored guides as well.

Hint: Hover Illusion

it works: 0% | it doesn't work: 100%

When you get the jet pack upgrade for Clank, you can hover. Normally you would see the jet pack, but I've figured out a little hint that makes it look like Ratchet is hovering on his own accord. Equip the jet pack and hover.

Once you hover, pause the game and equip the helipack. Once this is done, unpause the game and, VOILA! Ratchet appears to be hovering without the use of the jetpack or the helipack. Just a little tid-bit to everyone who is amused by just about everything.

Hint: Infinite Bolts

it works: 0% | it doesn't work: 100%

If you have your Robot Changer and your Taunter then you are ready to get them bolts.

You go back to Black Water City and go to the board race. Before you enter, turn into your robot. Then enter and the other racers will disappear. Then you go to the large ramp and stand under the platform with all the boxes. Then you need to get your Taunter out and hold CIRCLE down. You will get all the bolts you could want or put up with.

Hint: Eliminate a Racer

it works: 0% | it doesn't work: 100%

At the racetrack in the Gadgetron Site on Kalebo III, if you know you can't win the race, save a rocket until the end and launch it just before crossing the line. Select "Continue" and a rocket will fly towards and destroy the nearest racer at the start of the race.

If you are having trouble getting to the race track on Kalebo III, there is an easier way due to a miscalculation by the programmers. Standing inside the first building (it is protected by a force field and has three other paths out and a vendor is in the centre) face the middle of the three doors. It is protected by a force field and should be either directly in front of you or slightly to the left, and fire a visibomb over the top of the force field. Steer it down to hit the button. You can now walk directly to the racetrack. Note that this will clear your objectives and get you the Hologuise but won't allow that part of the map to be explored until you go to the racetrack in the intended direction, this will not badly impact your game.
